1725

(December) Act of Incorporation Act of Incorporationwas signed and Methuen became incorporated as a town.

1726

First Town meeting was held on March 9th.Stephen Barker was firstTown Moderator.

1728

On August 28th the first meeting house was open to the public. Cemetery laid out.

1729

First church image Congregational was organized.

1731

Robert Rogers was born. He was baptized by Rev. Christopher Sargent.

1735

The first schoolhouse image home image was erected on Meeting House Hill.

1759

Roger's Rangers destroyed 100 year old Indian settlement of St. Francis.

1774

First military company was organized.

1775

Four companies of Minutemen led by Capt. John Davis marched from Methuen toward Lexington.

The town was divided into seven school districts.

1789

School mistressesmistresses were chosen to teach reading.

1792

Methuen Social Library was founded.

1795

Robert Rogers died.
